Jack of Newbury was a wealthy Tudor cloth-producer and exporter on an industrial scale who led Newbury men to war during Henry VIII’s reign.
Jack of Newbury was the subject of David’s Ph.D. with the University of Reading in 2004. He will give a very well-researched, informative and fascinating presentation on ‘The Winchcombe Family and the Woollen Industry in Sixteenth-Century Newbury’.
